MORGAN HILL, California (04/05/99) ----American Predator Corporation (APC) has released the preliminary design of the Raptor ATX. This design is based on the Intel® 440BX chipset and supports Intel® Celeron® processors up to 533MHz. Developed specifically for industrial applications that require a powerful engine combined with an ATX platform (8''x12'').

The Raptor ATX™ can be used for diskless workstations in harsh environments that are subject to shock and vibration. The solid state flash device featured in this design is a Disk-on-Chip™ with a standard 32-pin DIP package and True FFS (True Flash File System) technology which can replace standard hard disks that are often subject to data errors and easily damaged under these conditions.

The Raptor ATX™ offers one AGP slot delivering a maximum of 532MB/s 2x transfer mode which is quadruple the PCI speed, reducing the contention with the CPU and I/O devices by broadening the bandwidth of graphics to memory. It also offers an improvement in 3D graphics performance.

Along with the AGP slot, the Raptor ATX™ features four 32-bit PCI slots and three 16-bit ISA slots, two USB headers, ULTRA-DMA/EIDE capability allowing high speed data transfer, and complete on-board I/O. It supports three on-board DIMM memory modules up to 768MB registered or 384MB unregistered SDRAM. Another industrial feature on this APC design, is the on-board 10 Base-T/100Mbits ethernet controller with support for Wake-On-Lan function that allows remote station wake-up for maintenance and power management.
