American Predator Licenses General Software BIOS for Latest Motherboard Solution

MORGAN HILL, California (01/25/02) ----American Predator Corporation (APC) announced today that its has licensed General Software's Embedded BIOS™ for the Raptor Micro ATX, the company's newest motherboard solution.

Embedded BIOS offers the most comprehensive, on-target features for x86 embedded systems of all available BIOS and firmware products. The modular architecture of the Embedded BIOS Adaptation Kit allows American Predator to support multiple, on-going BIOS adaptations while leveraging existing libraries of CPU, chipset, and board-specific features. Embedded BIOS is the latest announcement from APC, who, on December 11th, announced the Raptor Micro ATX, the industry's first motherboard to take advantage of Intel's® new 82801E Communications I/O Controller Hub (C-ICH).

"General Software's BIOS structure allows American Predator to provide our customers with superior custom services," commented Ed Trevis, APC's President and CEO. "General Software made it possible for our own engineering group to control BIOS modifications that used to require our previous vendor's time and resources. This empowerment means we can offer a quicker and more extensive solution to our customers."

"Because of its integrated Ethernet controllers and serial ports, Intel's C-ICH controller is well-suited to saving OEMs money on volume networking products," said Steve Jones, General Software's Founder and Chief Technical Officer. "We see many network infrastructure designs that could benefit from having the Ethernet controllers directly embedded into the south bridge part. As a result, we've added C-ICH support as a standard Embedded BIOS 2000 package that OEMs can use to support the new peripherals available on this component. We are especially pleased to see American Predator take advantage of this new Embedded BIOS feature."
