American Predator Kicks off its ROHS (LEAD-FREE) Compliance with a "READY TO SHIP" ATX Motherboard

The Intel® Pentium® III Processor-Based Raptor ATX™ Is The First Of The Company's Products To "Go Green".

MORGAN HILL, California (02/06/06) ---- American Predator Corporation, a designer and manufacturer of long-life motherboards, SBCs and systems for the embedded computing market, has successfully converted their Raptor ATX product to meet the demands of the official RoHS directive.

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) , also commonly referred to as the "lead-free" directive, restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. The Raptor ATX is American Predator's first motherboard that will help customers' in their transition to more environmentally-friendly, or "green" products.

The qualification of the Raptor ATX is a result of American Predator's RoHS strategy, which includes RoHS-compliant part selection, PCB manufacturing and fabrication, and the qualification of processors, memory (DRAM and Flash), cables and peripherals.

This qualification also supports American Predator's commitment to legacy support, as older, Intel® Pentium® III technology is more difficult to convert to the new standard, and is susceptible to being left off manufacturers' RoHS plans.

American Predator's RoHS conversion schedule will be completed prior to the July 1, 2006 effective date. Compliant products and their documents will bear a "Pb-free" or equivalent mark. A list of products available to order right now can be found on American Predator's RoHS Web site.

"We understand the potential headache that the RoHS directive can cause customers, and we are here to help," said Tom Zarn, Senior Component Engineer and RoHS project manager.

"Part of our plan is to source the most reliable and high-quality components available, keeping in mind the consistency and longevity that our customers require. From there, we are willing and able to work hand-in-hand with our customers to ensure that their transition and deployment is as smooth and trouble-free as possible."
